Pulau Payar is situated in the northern part of Malacca, 19 nautical miles south of Langkawi and encompasses the islands of Pulau Payar, Pulau Lembu, Pulau Segantang and Pulau Kaca which are surrounded by coral reefs.
Pulau Payar can be accessed from three major points-Kuah, on Langkawi Island, Kuala Kedah on the mainland, and Penang Island. From Kuah or Kuala Kedah the boat ride takes about 45 minutes, whereas from Penang, it may take slightly about 2 hours.
I went to this Island on 1 April 2007, a day trip journey. I took a boat ride from Penang Jetty terminal (near the clock tower). The ticket (package ticket) is 240 RM per person for not Malaysian, if for local people about 150 RM. The ticket is include the return boat ticket, lunch there and free of use of any swimming facilities there. The journey was about 2 hours from Penang to Pulau Payar. This tour called ?Langkawi Coral?.
You can book your ticket and ask more information thru this email and phone:

This place is ideal place for scuba diving, snorkeling, swimming, and feeding the small colorful fish. Cause of the sheltered waters and clean, you still can see until about 7 meters from the top. It?s Also a nice place for photography underwater fans.
For the one don?t want to swim also have other option, can enjoy the sea scenery from the glass bottom boat, or also can have tracking activity in the island, or walking and playing in the white sand beach. The scenery here is wonderful.
You can enjoy seeing the baby shark feeding, have quite many baby sharks come to the beach, and you can feed them.
For the tourist who traveling from Penang, I can suggest to go to this Pulau Payar trip (Langkawi Coral) as a part of your Langkawi trip. Book a boat ticket from Pulau Payar, spend time there swimming, snorkeling then around 3.30 pm take a boat to Langkawi Island, spend 1 nite or 2 nite in Langkawi then go back to Penang from Langkawi.
Please aware to follow their saving environment rules, to save this island. Don?t throw any rubbish to the sea, not using soap or shampoo when you taking bath there, not collecting any coral from there.
